Additions to the Agenda: none

New Business: none

Old Business:
a. Lifestyle Essentials – as noted in the packet
b. Bike Master Plan
  • CACC will meet tonight at the Boy Scout building on Gorman Farm Road. The UC Master’s program has been analyzing the plan and will present their results. This year’s bike month celebration will take place in collaboration with the City of Blue Ash at Blue Ash Summit Park (formerly Blue Ash Airport).
Director’s Report:
  • Return to Play Concussion Law
  • The law states the player must be pulled from the practice or game and cannot return to play until seen by medical personnel. If coaches disagree that a child may have a concussion, a possibility of a teenaged umpire or referee would be forced to over-rule an adult which may be uncomfortable for the referee. We need to look at having an older referee on the field with the younger ones. During fall sports registrations, the front desk will ask if a parent has medical training and would be willing to help with assessments.
  • At the May Commission meeting, David will have the results of our recent accessibility audit. One result we are already aware of is the need for the lift to be pool side, and ready to use, during all hours of pool operation.
  • Elyse Spraul and Vincent Mazzone will be our new assistant swim team coaches.
  • Tim Fortner, Evendale resident and Eagle Scout candidate, will receive his certification as a Level 1 Archery Instructor this weekend. Tim, and his fellow Boy Scouts, is working on the new targets for the archery ranges at the north end of soccer field #4. Recently, David met with Tim, and Michael Bluestein, to review progress and share insights. Bows for all levels will be used.
  • Signage has been added at the bottom of soccer field #4 notifying patrons that if they need assistance up to soccer field #4, they should call the recreation center.
  • Demographics and memberships purchases show that 86% of residents have some type of recreation membership. Forty percent of Evendale are age 55 years or older; of this, 58% have a membership (fitness, pool, or full facility).
  • Linda Manzo is doing well. David will invite her to the May meeting with an update on the Active Adult and Senior Adult Program.
  • Cary Belyea, SwimSafe Pool Management, will be invited to the June Commission meeting.
  • On Monday, David volunteered at Gorman Heritage Farm assisting with groups from local schools. The farm’s school field trip program is doing really well and receiving great reviews.
Phi Lambda Pi Report:
  • Wednesday nights have included playing basketball, and hanging out in the teen room.
  • Awards night is this Friday. The event has a “50’s” theme. The evening includes an awards ceremony, speeches honoring the seniors (Elizabeth Guye and Sam Ficke), a trip to Run, Jump, and Play, and making root beer floats.
  • Griffin Preserve is having a cleanup day on May 18th, at which Phi members will be helping.
  • About twenty kids have been coming on Wednesday nights.
Open Discussion:
  • The new uniforms for our sports teams are getting great reviews.
  • Thank you to Kristen and Tony for adjusting tennis lesson times.
  • The tennis courts are getting new windscreens. Additionally, the court surface, and striping, is holding up quite well.
  • The village will be hosting a community shredding event for residents on May 18th from 10:00am-2:00pm.
  • Open gym pickle ball play has been held on two Fridays in April, with more dates to come in the future. Everyone is invited down to check it out.
Motion to adjourn made at 8:15am.by Gus Janszen; seconded by Wayne Mosley. Motion approved.
